Dr. Vijay P. Bhatkar
Immense contribution in Development of Super Computers
Dr. Vijay P. Bhatkar is the architect for the establishment of the ‘Centre for Development of Advanced Computing’ and the development of indigenous Param Super Computers. He led the construction of India’s first super computer and enabled the country to join the elite club of nations and contributed to technological self reliance in the technology denial era. He is currently working on an EXA-Scale Supercomputing Project which will make India as one of the few countries in the world with this scale of supercomputing facility. He was instrumental in promoting the use of Indian languages in computers. He created ETH Research Lab for bringing education directly to home. He pioneered the computer literacy programme which, since its launch, has created over 75 lakh computer literates within a decade.
Dr. Vijay P. Bhatkar is awarded ‘S R Jindal Prize– 2012’ at the hands of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji or his exceptional achievements in the field of Science, Technology & Environment. The Award carries a Cash Prize of Rs.1 Crore.
