Shri Dipendra Manocha
Empowering and improving the quality of life of the blind
Shri Dipendra Manocha, despite his personal handicap of blindness and with the objective of improving the quality of life of visually impaired persons, developed and facilitated for development of softwares for Braille transcription for Hindi and other languages and other tools for enabling their easy access to education. He is establishing infrastructure in South Asian countries for the production of digital talking and e-text books and is providing a set of tools free of cost for persons with blindness to enable them to write, read newspapers and refer to various dictionaries etc. Through his NGO ‘SAKSHAM’, a school has been opened for imparting free education to the blind.
Shri Dipendra Manocha is awarded ‘S R Jindal Prize– 2012’ at the hands of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji jointly with Smt.Fulbasan Yadav, Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Shri.T.Duryodhana Reddy, and Amar Sewa Sangam in the field of ‘Exemplary Service to Mankind’. The Award carries a Cash Prize of Rs. 1 Crore to be shared equally.
