Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS)is serving the rural poor particularly the tribal and SC population through its work in the field of education, skill development, promotion of Self Help Groups, transfer of technologies to agrarian communities, watershed development and management, health, sanitation, welfare of the aged and the disabled.
RASS is currently implementing 42 programmes and serving nearly 10 lakh people of 3540 villages of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Odisha. They have established 96 schools in 211 villages for improving literacy in backward areas. They have established an Institute to train teachers to impart special skills to teach mentally retarded children and also an Institute to train Anganwadi workers in child health, nutrition, prenatal and postnatal care and community hygiene where 16000 Anganwadi workers have been trained.
RASS has been felicitated by many dignitaries including the then President of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam and the then Vice-President, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma. It has received Indira Gandhi National Award (1989), Jamna Lal Bajaj Award (1995) and Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award (2006).
Rashtriya Seva Samithi ,Tirupati is awarded ‘SR Jindal Prize – 2012’ at the hands of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji jointly with BAIF Development and Research Foundation, Pune for their exceptional achievements in the field of Agriculture, Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation. The Award carries a Cash Prize of Rs. 1 Crore to be shared equally.
